It's really something. I just pray they don't patch it out of the game, lol. You only need to see some of the whining and crying from some of these so-called 'competitive' players to see the pressure they put on guys like Clint. If they could, they'd have a game that didn't resemble NFL football at all. The running game for the cpu is still pretty bad with the run blocking up to I think I may have to try out all madden but don't really feel like dealing with the cpu when it goes into all madden mode.
I know there was a mention of updated stadiums, but can anyone confirm if they added the train horn for touchdowns at Ford Field? Sent from my VS using Operation Sports mobile app. Are they already getting heat? For what? I know about the song stuff, but on game play? The game gets noticeably worse whenever EA caters to you. I just got a mb update on Xbox that brings version to 1. Interesting got a prompt today for 1. Everyone uses the same players, runs the same plays, and just overall ruins the experience.
The only difference with pro players is that they are experts on executing the "money" plays and cpu exploits. My favorite MUT games are when I'm going against a theme team and they run their own creative scheme.
People can play however they want, but when the devs are catering to this style of play, then that frustrates me. I'm actually really excited for this years MUT. I can actually build a competitive all-ravens team and go NMS.
I like that everything can be customized including chemistries, team association, and abilities. It's sweet that I can include any former raven and give them special team boosts. CFM also seems to be heading in the right direction with the new archetype system feeling like a breath of fresh air. The leveling up reminds me of an RPG and it's pretty exciting finding out what ratings will be boosted.
It's like when I open a chest in Zelda and I anxiously wait to see what new item I got! Both modes will be taking my time this year. I'm also considering trying out a big online CFM if anyone is interested! So far though, I think M19 is going to be a great one and hopefully the devs can build off this year! If the opinion of a dude like that is going to move the needle then there is no hope.
Got update 1. Also, after 1. They look nice. Played a game earlier after updating with this new one. Running was insanely easy and I had a bunch more sacks. Not sure if it is the patch or just a random good game on my part. Now after the new update it stutters like crazy. Anyone else have this issue with the new update? QB animations are nothing like they were unless I am just imagining it.
I see the same damn animation of the fist pump up and down and tap the side of helmet. Not seeing him walk down the line anymore. Please god tell me someone is still seeing these animations.
I played the Beta. How much difference is the pre snap animations from the QB now? Big difference if you ask me, I kept seeing only 2 different animations on Shotgun with Luck, maybe I am just mad atm and seeing things, IDK. Here is my tweet to Clint which I am not expecting an answer from.. ClintOldenburg This has been the best madden gameplay in such a long time, started to finally get immersion with QB animations and you guys stripped them down.
Why are simulation fans getting the short end again? Why can't this be separated from H2H players, it really sucks. Gotta thank the MUT and competitive guys for screwing up madden this year.
Once again influencing the game in the wrong direction! Everyone keeps talking about great coverages in this game. Is it both ways? Has anyone noticed that teams with bad offensive lines can't run I've played probably games and I have good ones like this and horrible games. I think there is a good variety. It also seems like the teams that are supposed to be really good are, and the crappy ones are pretty crappy.
But still too early to tell if this will be the way the game plays consistently. OK, I feel like a fool. I went on and on about defense and coverage, then I DLed 1. Am I the only one seeing this? Can anyone else on 1. I played a game earlier and didn't really notice much of a difference in coverage with the CPU. I squeezed a few balls into tight coverage as well.
Had a sweet out route completion where the CB was right on me but the ball was placed perfectly and my WR caught with the DB all over him. And also, slants are still well covered by DB's and LB's in general. I wasn't able to to use them a lot. Completed a few that were squeezed in there. Definitely not a lot of separation. Vann, let me know what you see. I'm about to fire it up and play some more and see how things look.
PVarick, that's comforting. I could have just had an off performance. I hope that's the case. On the PC version, is there any screen that tells you what version of the game you have? I see people mentioning different numbers, but can't find a place where it is stated within the game, unless just missing it. The gameplay improvements sound OK I but I don't understand why they tweaked the player xp and draft classes I thought they were good already.
And It says they raised the cost of skills for young players and lowered the cost for older players? That seems odd to me. Also no mention of the faulty dynamic development trait feature that I and many others reported during beta. It's better since release but still needs a rework.
Players will literally win mvp and lose their superstar trait while non pro bowlers will get promoted, regardless of age. The whole system is random and unrealistic. And not even touched, really disappointing. Got the pc version so I could spend a great deal of time coming up with xp sliders ahead of release and I probably have to restart from scratch now which is a bummer too, but was kind of expecting it. Just wish these changes made more sense. Good patch I'm able to see the holes open up.
The running game feels pretty balanced since I can gain big in one play then get stonewalled on the next. I'm on PC and they need to patch the mouse from appearing. That said, I'm intrigued by what others are seeing too. While I'm disinclined to make changes to my particular slider setup at this time, I am curious about the observations others make.
It'd be helpful to sort of diagnose what people are seeing. Frankly, this is the first patch since October that I felt had some sort of a "global" impact to the gameplay Ok folks, just saw this on Twitter.
The one where you could actually get a tackle for a loss??? That is all the information I have for you at this time. Now, having posted that, I just hope it becomes more balanced, I don't want to see the blow up in the backfield tackles I've seen before this update WWE style. It totally has messed up my franchise! Im with my All-Time rosters on All-Madden default. This game tried everything to screw up my chances of winning!
All runningbacks attack every defender like Jim Brown! Straight Garbage! Shame on you Madden team! Once again with the new update and all running backs have become Earl Campbell or Jim Brown! This proves the game engine is animations driven and no real physics exist! Playing more today, yeah it is a bit much and it affects training as well while on defense trying to prevent a score to get gold or silver The WRs and RBs all fall forward for three yards either falling in the EZ or first downs.
Makes training frustrating. I can still get tackles for loss in games on rush plays against the CPU but it's a lot more infrequent. No fear of being stopped like before. So in a game it's not awful but it happens an awful lot is all but it is on both sides so my biggest gripe is during training. The fact that that it's in the game more often than not isn't right, but the fact they are investigating this issue in March has to be a record of some sort. Happy they are investigating vs letting this ride in Now offensive players mostly fall forwards, almost always when they are actually running forward, and no one likes that, either.
Anyone trying to say the animation triggers every down is exaggerating. Taking better angles to the ball carrier while in pursuit helps a ton. All those weak tackle attempts that got crazy, "stop-them-dead" animations are gone.
Ball carriers run right through them now, and that is both more realistic and makes for a better game. But there do exist smaller dudes in the NFL who are more than capable of running through weak tackle attempts :P. At the same time, the defense hitting is affected tremendously which makes the outcome unrealistic! The bottom line is this game is in year 30 and no real physics exist! Its still animations driven which is unacceptable! I have to agree with you on this one man..
I just am not seeing exaggerated animations frequently and the quirky ones have virtually been in the game since day one. I also am using heavily edited rosters so that might be the difference.. I love the fact that ball carriers are initiating contact and falling forward for extra yards matter of fact it's rare in in real football that they don't..
I don't get it. If they could tune this so a ballcarrier with true momentum would trigger this animation, then I would agree with you here. Having my tackle slider on 40, I was already experiencing this gameplay. It's the reverse tackle momentum animations happening between WR's and DB's that are the most egregious in my eyes.
Now, an Eagles fan agrees with you and a Cowboys fan partially agrees with you I definitely do not want them to go overboard and tune it back to WWE smack-down-dead-in-your-tracks tackling like it was at launch. That was awful. Ok this is weird now I agree with Cowboys fan too.. Tell me about it. For some reason, an Eagles fan WRZ frequented it. He had great perspective and we always kept in touch.
Sports hate, as long as it doesn't get crazy, is just part of being a fan. For me, I get enough enjoyment watching my team win rather than relish in another team's loss. Sorry for going off topic mates. Now back to our regularly scheduled program While it goes both ways, at least with this "fall-forward glitch" I'm able to successfully gain first downs.
Too many times before this happened, I'd always be stopped at 4th and inches, 3rd and inches etc. Don't get me wrong, I hope they balance it out, but I do enjoy the fact that I have a decent running game now, and I can pick up firsts on 3rd and short etc. I just hope they fix the momentum of where the tackle takes you like somebody before I said.
It looks jarring when a receiving is running right, and you tackle him from behind, to see him get suctioned and start falling forward to the left. I play in all modes of the game, and it sucks in all modes, especially every CPU or User player falling forward animtion that is repeatedly getting dumb "patch animation" glitched first downs which are also not being recorded as stats for tackle.
Can anyone post a video or two to show what some of us aren't seeing? An really disappointed with last patch. Thought the game was playing pretty good before it. On a side note. I just set single season record for rushing yards in my week 17 game. Really sad what is still lacking in his game. If this still holds true, this may be the simple work-around towards the fall-forward animation triggering against a large portion of talkers.
For edaddy from simftballcritic I happen to agree with this play, this play shouldn't be in the game, but I do want to see more momentum going forward and more of a balance going forward.
And again, the team is investigating the issue, so, the ball is in their court, folks. Sounds like some people want to put the game in and let it rip and hope the game plays sim out of the box. Not one sports game that I've ever owned and put the disc in and let it rip attitude. I adjust the game to my sim liking and don't rely on sport gaming companies making a sim game out of the box. Why I completely agree that one will always need to set sliders to achieve as close to a sim experience as possible, console slider adjustments will not prevent this event from happening.
Thanks for bringing this in Roadman. That animation, while flawed for reasons SimFball explained, isn't too egregious. What I am continuing to experience is a force field effect just before my defender makes contact with a stationary or sideways running ballcarrier. This causes my defender's progress to stop or reverse just before contact, thus allowing the ballcarrier to gain a significant and unrealistic momentum advantage.
The next time any of you experience this, watch it over very, very slowly in replay and you will see the actual problem starts just before the contact and the subsequent following animation plays out as a result.
After reading through the last few days of this thread I'm a bit confused Have you guys actually played with it though? I can understand liking the idea of people falling forward more often than not in situations that warrant it, but that's not how this patch works. Guys can be standing still, or running backwards and they still get warped into this tackle animation. It's not more realistic at all. The idea of having more momentum-based tackle outcomes is excellent and i think we would all like to see that, but that's not what's happening with this patch.
It's not game breaking but it's horribly ugly to watch and it makes the game feel a lot less realistic than it did before this patch because the tackle outcomes have nothing to do with the on field situation or momentum.
I also saw some people saying that this helps the balance with the CPU and they're more difficult now I don't understand that at all because this bug is happening to user and computer players. The issue with this is that it has nothing to do with momentum, strength, weight, or anything else logical. It has everything to do with these animations being triggered way too often because of a bug. The people that are wanting more information are people that have played some games , but maybe aren't seeing the outcomes that others have reported.
All they want is more information, and I don't think that is a bad thing, do you? These are posters that I've trusted their opinions for quite awhile. About balance, I've brought it up a few times, I just want the outcomes to be balanced. They just looked weird on some of them. The team is investigating on what people are reporting. Most investigations result in a update.
Just need to sit back and wait for all this to play out. I don't think wanting more information is a bad thing. It seemed like there were a decent amount of people saying they like how it is being implemented and that to me sounds like people who haven't actually been playing. Maybe my situation is unique and i've seen more instances than most people, but there's nothing realistic about what is happening and i think anyone that has played for any length of time since the update would agree.
I agree with sitting it out and giving them time to work things out and patch it up. It is what it is though. The game is still a great game and i'll continue to play it. It's not nearly as bad as some of the other issues we've had over the years. I'm not surprised when games have bugs, but when people justify the bugs to say it makes the game better, or they say the bugs aren't actually there, i think it's fair to wonder if those people are actually playing the game.
We'll see but many might argue it was far from flawless before this patch and I'm one of those. As stated before, I can still get tackles for loss against RBs it's just everybody now falls forward including QBs while getting sacked. I'd just like it to be more balanced between falling forward and the WWE tackles.
But going back to 1. On 3rd and short, I don't want to pass all the time just to make a first down in fear of a WWE takedown in the backfield. This title update was the first time I didn't notice much of that going on at all. What will happen when they fix this bug?
Are we going back to that type of play? I don't want that, I want this to become more balanced if that is all possible. We know when title updates drop, we need to test things out. I hope that makes sense.
Yes in a perfect world an adjustment based off of 1. Yes, it required some slider work, but IMO, the run game was in a nice place with 1. I felt very comfortable running on 3rd and 3 against many teams. I don't feel like the stonewall tackling has been in the game since September. We know that one of the major weakness of Madden is not enough animation coverage and the wrong animation sequences playing out way too often.
This latest patch has exacerbated that situation big time. Two players going full speed in one direction, and then a tackling animation triggers that is literally impossible based off of the angles and momentum that they collide at.
The way they have it now should be looked at as something that could form the basis for interactions in M20, but only if they can increase the number animations in these situations, and exponentially improve the contextual appropriateness of when certain animations trigger.
Game was pretty much perfect. Beyond that, I had no complaints. Never change. Hey Road thanks for the video but like another poster said this is not that far fetched or egregious.. Ive seen that a million times playing coaching and on tv..
I again would rather see whats happened in this video than to see that same db stop him in his tracks and blow him up.. I would take this outcome over the WWE mess.. I call it like I see it and I have seen that same outcome happening in real life since I started playing at 8yrs old my man.. I subscribed to him cause he normally gives updates on the patches and whatnot. He also does MUT and whatnot.
So, here u go. But, he will call them out sometimes for bad patches and wonky gameplay. To get access to all Origin features, please go online. Sign In. Language Preferences. You are currently browsing in the United Kingdom store. Learn more. Read more.
